Toronto Reunion

The main blogger (the force behind the blog) has been waylaid by work this past month and a half but we are back to describe our more recent adventures. There‘s much to tell!

Hurray for grandparents!

With some trepidation, given the surging Omicron variant in late December, we returned to North America for the holidays. We are so grateful that we did! It had been two years since we saw the Lang family. Two years is too long and we needed to see these wonderful grandparents.

Travel was smooth, covid tests were frequent and we arrived in Toronto unscathed. Mostly we stayed in, playing games, catching up, and going for an occasional walk. Mara, Kaleb and Anisa have grown up!

The boys ventured out once: to Toronto’s Hockey Hall of Fame. Risking all to visit the coveted Stanley Cup. This blogger is not inclined to comment more on hockey or the Toronto Maple Leafs but I hear it was a good day.

Christmas was joyful. It was so nice to be together after these two rollercoaster years. And always good to have Christmas with young kids.

We were sad to miss the extended Lang Family and some family rituals (Christmas carols!) but drowned our sorrows in Judy‘s shortbread cookies.

James and Kate

After Christmas, we spent a day at Kate and James’ house. James made a delicious minestrone soup with pancetta. The boys did some gaming while Kate, Mara and I walked to the park. We stayed in character as three dragons for the duration.

It was hard to leave. We will not let so much time pass before the next visit. We love and miss our Canadian family.
